Inmagic DB/Text for SQL (formerly known as Content Server) is an enterprise-wide scalable content management system. It combines the advantages of a robust and flexible database management environment with high-speed search and categorization, making finding relevant information fast, easy, and precise. Web publishing capabilities are built into DB/Text, offering a better way to publish, access, and maintain information on corporate intranets and the Internet.
This product has the following components:
DB/TextWorks for SQL. This is the Windows desktop component.
DB/Text WebPublisher PRO for SQL. This component gives your organization the ability to publish textbases on the Web. Anyone with a Web browser can point to an HTML page and submit a query. The results are returned dynamically, in forms that you design. You can also design an interface so that you and/or your end users can add, edit, and delete records in a textbase through the Web.
DB/Text for SQL Importer. This component is a service that enables you to load records into one or more textbases, while automatically and continually processing imports in the background. You can import records in Inmagic tagged, delimited ASCII, and XML formats. You can also import documents (for example, Microsoft Word documents).
Important! This section applies to clients upgrading from version 14.5 or earlier. Please read the entire section carefully.
Textbases created or upgraded using version 15.5 are not compatible with any Inmagic product prior to version 15.0. You will need to upgrade DB/Text WebPublisher to version 15.5 before you will be able to use it with a version 15.0 or later textbase. When you open an existing version 14.5 (or earlier) textbase with DB/TextWorks version 15.5, you will be prompted to upgrade the textbase. If you upgrade the textbase, you will not be able to access the textbase with any Inmagic product prior to version 15.0.
For example: If you use Inmagic Genie, you will need to open each Genie textbase (GenieKey, Catalog, etc.) in DB/TextWorks to upgrade it to 15.5. If your textbase includes any Link fields, you will need to open the secondary/associated textbases directly (File>Open) to upgrade them to 15.5. If your textbase uses the Thesaurus feature, you will need to open the thesaurus textbase directly (File>Open) to upgrade it to 15.5. And so on.
Form Scripts that use the "formatting signal" discussed in the "Box Object" topic in the Help must be updated. The length has changed from 13 characters to 23 characters. Any Form Scripts that use the script snippet in that topic will need to be modified to use the new length.
Notes for WebPublisher
A change must be made to the WEB.CONFIG file for InmagicBrowse. Please see the installation notes for more information.
WebPublisher Edit Screens now use WPP_Edit.aspx instead of a .ASP page (iwpp-edit.asp or icsw-edit.asp). You will need to re-export any HTML edit screens. And if you have made any customizations to the old .ASP pages (rare), you'll need to transfer those customizations to the new .ASPX page.
If your WebPublisher reports look different than they did in previous versions, they probably include Raw HTML or Inline Images. Open the form in the Form Designer, choose Tools>Form Properties, select the HTML tab, uncheck "Use Cascading Style Sheets to preserve formatting", save the form, and try the report in WebPublisher again.
Notes for Inmagic Genie
You will need to open each Genie textbase with DB/TextWorks to upgrade it to 15.0 or later.
You will need to open the WebPrint form in the DB/TextWorks Form Designer to choose Tools>Form Properties, select the HTML tab, and uncheck "Use Cascading Style Sheets to preserve formatting".
You may (or may not) need to add an option to the ICSWEB.INI file for DB/Text WebPublisher. Please see the "DBTWPub.INI (ICSWeb.INI) File" topic under "WebPublisher PRO Configuration" in the Help Contents, and click the bottom link in the topic ("Whether specific characters (trademarks, smart quotes, etc.) are HTML-encoded, primarily for use with Inmagic Genie").
Each enhancement is discussed briefly here. The Inmagic issue number follows each item listed.
Rich Text fields – When editing an empty Rich Text field, the Rich Text Editor now defaults to the Text Font specified in the Tools>Options>Display settings. This font is also used when you use Edit Textbase Structure to change the Field Type to Rich Text. [8012]
MSXML 4.0 – All calls to MSXML 4.0 (importing XML, WebPublisher) have been changed to call MSXML 6.0 or later. [8014]
E-mail Options – The E-mail tab of the Tools>Options dialog box will now retain any specified Mail server IP address. [8015]
Install Kit – Removed the check for Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. [8016]
Import Document – Addressed an issue importing specific large PDF files. [8019]
Export – When exporting a subset of fields, addressed an issue selecting fields from a linked textbase. [8020]
Rich Text fields – The Font list on the Rich Text Editor dialog box now has a scrollbar. [8021]
Form Designer – Addressed a couple of specific issues with Compulsory Sorts. [8027, 8028]
Manage Textbase Elements – Addressed an issue importing forms that included lengthy Form Scripts. [8029]
Print Images – Printing multiple images now works. [8033]
Search – Proximity and phrase searches that include accented characters in the search criteria now work when accents are ignored. [8040]
These issues are specific to WebPublisher:
ICSWEB.INI – The SOAPFormat=0 option is no longer supported, and will be ignored. All WebPublisher output will use SOAP format (spaces replaced with underbars, etc.).
Exported HTML Edit Forms – Addressed an issue where duplicate new records were created in Internet Explorer only. Each form will need to be re-exported for the fix to take effect. [8038]
Search – Less than (<) searches now work with Alternative Search Syntax enabled. [8039]
Search – Addressed an issue with IIS Application Pool failures when phrase or proximity searches encountered a record that included accented characters. [8041]
The following features are no longer available in DB/TextWorks as of version 15.0.
WebPublisher Multiple Textbase Query. Presto for DB/TextWorks provides a much more robust ability to search across multiple textbases and display these results. Note: This feature is unrelated to Link fields. Textbases can still be linked together (e.g., Loans linked to Borrower).
Scan Image. Note: The ability to use existing images has not been affected. The Scan Image feature permitted you to use DB/TextWorks to scan an image with your scanner.
Textbase-Specific Help. Microsoft has dropped support for the .HLP format in modern versions of Windows. You can use a script button or the Applications menu to launch a textbase-specific help document.
Email – MAPI Support. Microsoft has begun deprecating MAPI features in Windows. See the new features for SMTP e-mail, which allow the inclusion of Additional Message Text and a Signature.
In Print Preview, Rich Text fields appear to use tiny fonts. Print does use the correct font sizes.
