DB/TextWorks is a content management system—a type of database software that enables you to build networked and standalone textbases to manage text, numbers, dates, and electronic images. DB/TextWorks combines traditional database power, including the ability to manipulate data and perform arithmetic calculations, with the ability to handle large amounts of text. When you want to publish your textbase(s) over the Web, you can use either DB/Text WebPublisher PRO or Presto for DB/Text.
Each new and enhanced feature is discussed briefly here. For more information on a feature, see the online help, unless otherwise noted. If applicable, the Inmagic Software Feature Request number follows each item listed.
Profiles. You can create, save, name, and select from multiple sets of parameters to use when importing records, exporting records, and sending email reports. [6482, 7542, 7543]
Improved support for viewing PDF files. [5594, 5595, 6104, 7272, etc.]
Correcting a validation list term can now update affected records. Previously, correcting a typographical error in a validation list (that already contains the correctly spelled term) did not cause affected records to be updated as well. The error message reported that the target term was already in the list and did not go further. Now, that message has OK and Cancel buttons. Cancel behaves as before. OK permits the records to be updated. [7483]
Updated spell-check engine. The spell-check software and dictionaries have been updated. [7303]
Windows 8. DB/TextWorks is now supported on Windows 8.
The following issues are addressed by this version. The applicable Inmagic Software Problem Report (SPR) number follows each item listed.
Textbase information now correctly reports free space. [7471]
An attempt to import a PDF with added security no longer causes the software to hang. A generic error message appears instead. [7484]
Attempts to export records from a textbase no longer fail if previous exports included fields from secondary textbases that are no longer present. [7533]
The batch-modify confirmation message now correctly reports a lengthy insertion. [7466]
Access to Inmagic.NET has been removed. Due to low customer usage, Inmagic.NET has been retired. Some functions previously available via Inmagic.NET are now available via the Knowledgebase.
The following issues are addressed by SP 1.
Corrected spell check issue where user dictionary was not created in a new install
UI fixes related to new Profiles feature
