DB/TextWorks is a content management system—a type of database software that
enables you to build networked and standalone textbases to manage text,
numbers, dates, and electronic images. DB/TextWorks combines traditional
database power, including the ability to manipulate data and perform arithmetic
calculations, with the ability to handle large amounts of text. When you want
to publish your textbase(s) over the Web, you need to use DB/Text WebPublisher
PRO.
DB/TextWorks also provides you with access to Inmagic.net™, which gives you the
ability to connect to the Inmagic server from within a DB/TextWorks session to
accomplish various tasks related to cataloging, indexing, and disseminating
information throughout an organization.
This version of DB/TextWorks is compatible with:
-
DB/Text WebPublisher PRO
version 10.0 or later
-
DB/SearchWorks Run-time version 8.0
-
DB/Text PowerPack
version 8.0
-
DB/Text ODBC Driver version 8.0
Each new and enhanced feature is discussed briefly here. For more information
on a feature, see the online help, unless otherwise noted. If applicable, the
Inmagic Software Feature Request number follows each item listed.
-
Batch modify multiple fields. It is now possible to
make the same change to more than one field at a time, without doing it to all
fields. [2244]
-
Batch modify field-to-field. Options have been added to
enable copying or moving the contents of one field to another. [4941]
-
Import matching multiple records. Import now supports the
option of updating multiple matching records. [2849]
-
Update records to match validation list changes. When terms
on a validation list are changed or deleted, a new option permits the
corresponding changes to be made in affected records in the textbase. [3093]
-
Thesaurus expansion when searching. Additions to the query
syntax support retrieval of preferred terms and related terms when searching a
field connected to a thesaurus. [6096]
-
E-mail reports in HTML. Send Report as Mail now
supports HTML format in the e-mail body. [5036]
-
E-mail reports grouped by recipient. E-mail reports sent to
recipients identified in textbase records can now have all messages to a given
recipient grouped into one e-mail message. The option to send them individually
is still supported. [3441]
-
See full path of textbases on the recent file list. Moving
the cursor over a textbase on the File menu causes the full path of that
textbase to appear in the status bar. [6371]
-
The online help now includes topics pertaining to DB/TextWorks for SQL
(formerly known as Content Server).
The following issues are addressed by this version. The applicable
