Inmagic DB/Text for SQL (formerly known as Content Server) is an enterprise-wide scalable content management system. It combines the advantages of a robust and flexible database management environment with high-speed search and categorization, making finding relevant information fast, easy, and precise. Web publishing capabilities are built into DB/Text, offering a better way to publish, access, and maintain information on corporate intranets and the Internet.
This product has the following components:
DB/TextWorks for SQL. This is the Windows desktop component.
DB/Text WebPublisher PRO for SQL. This component gives your organization the ability to publish textbases on the Web. Anyone with a Web browser can point to an HTML page and submit a query. The results are returned dynamically, in forms that you design. You can also design an interface so that you and/or your end users can add, edit, and delete records in a textbase through the Web.
DB/Text for SQL Importer. This component is a service that enables you to load records into one or more textbases, while automatically and continually processing imports in the background. You can import records in Inmagic tagged, delimited ASCII, and XML formats. You can also import documents (for example, Microsoft Word documents).
This section lists new and enhanced features for each DB/Text component. For more information on a feature, see the online help.
Profiles. You can create, save, name, and select from multiple sets of parameters to use when importing records, exporting records, and sending email reports.
Improved support for viewing PDF files.
Correcting a validation list term can now update affected records. Previously, correcting a typographical error in a validation list (that already contains the correctly spelled term) did not cause affected records to be updated as well. The error message reported that the target term was already in the list and did not go further. Now, that message has OK and Cancel buttons. Cancel behaves as before. OK permits the records to be updated.
Updated spell-check engine. The spell-check software and dictionaries have been updated.
Windows 8. DB/TextWorks is now supported on Windows 8.
Query log recycling. Includes option to rename a query log file and start a new one after a specified interval.
Where | SQL version / non-SQL version |
File | ICSWEB.INI / DBTWPUB.INI |
Section | ICSWeb / WebPublisher |
Parameter | WebLogCycle |
Value | number of days after which to start a new log |
Example | WebLogCycle=30 |
Improved support for Internet Explorer v10.
Validation list editing on the web. Accessible from the validation list browse window, and off by default.
Enable/disable in the InmagicBrowse Web.Config file:
<add key="VEditDeny" value="textbase1,textbase2" /> | - to suppress for the textbases listed |
<add key="VEditDeny" value="*" /> | - to suppress for all textbases |
<add key="VEditDeny" value="" /> | - to enable for all textbases |
InmagicBrowse auto-update fix. InmagicBrowse can now update records after a term is changed to another term already on the list. The warning message that appears regarding the new term's existence has OK and Cancel buttons. Click OK to update affected records.
Option to restore the InmagicBrowse Find button. Implemented for the benefit of a few customers for whom automatic Find doesn't work well.
Enable in the InmagicBrowse Web.Config file:
<add key="ShowFind" value="1" /> | - to expose the Find button |
<add key="EnableAutoFind" value="0" /> | - to suppress the automatic "find" behavior that could compete with the Find button |
