DB/Text for SQL (formerly known as Content Server) is an
enterprise-wide scalable content management system. It combines the advantages
of a robust and flexible database management environment with high-speed search
and categorization, making finding relevant information fast, easy, and
precise. Web publishing capabilities are built into DB/Text, offering a better
way to publish, access, and maintain information on corporate intranets and the
Internet.
DB/Text for SQL Components
This product has the following components:
-
DB/TextWorks. This is the Windows desktop component.
-
DB/Text WebPublisher PRO. This component gives your
organization the ability to publish textbases on the Web. Anyone with a Web
browser can point to an HTML page and submit a query. The results are returned
dynamically, in forms that you design. You can also design an interface so that
you and/or your end users can add, edit, and delete records in a textbase
through the Web.
-
DB/Text Importer. This component is a service that
enables you to load records into one or more textbases, while automatically and
continually processing imports in the background. You can import records in
Inmagic tagged, delimited ASCII, and XML formats. You can also import documents
(for example, Microsoft Word documents).
DB/TextWorks also provides you with access to Inmagic.net™, which gives you the
ability to connect to the Inmagic server from within a DB/TextWorks session to
accomplish various tasks related to acquiring, cataloging, indexing, and
disseminating information throughout an organization. For more information
about Inmagic.net, see the DB/TextWorks online help.
This section lists new and enhanced features for each DB/Text component. For more information on a feature, see the online help. The Inmagic Software Feature Request number follows each specific item listed below.
Terminology Changes
The Content Server suite is now known as DB/Text for SQL.
CS/Textworks is now known as DB/TextWorks for SQL.
CS/WebPublisher PRO is now known as DB/Text WebPublisher PRO for SQL.
In the documentation, including this README file, the words "for SQL" are frequently omitted, unless it is important to the context. Note that both the SQL and non-SQL based versions of the DB/Text suite have essentially the same feature set and user interface. The main difference is that DB/Text for SQL includes an Administration program that is specific to the SQL-based product.
-
Batch modify multiple fields. The Batch Modify Records
in Set dialog box now permits multiple selections on the "Fields to Modify"
list. You can use Shift+click and Ctrl+click to select multiple fields.
Previously, you could select either a single field or <all fields>.
[2244]
-
Batch modify field-to-field. Options have been added to
enable copying or moving the contents of one field to another. [4941]
-
Import matching multiple records. Import now supports the
option of updating multiple matching records. [2849]
-
Update records to match validation list changes. When terms
on a validation list are changed or deleted, a new option permits the
corresponding changes to be made in affected records in the textbase. [3093]
-
Thesaurus expansion when searching. Additions to the query
syntax support retrieval of preferred terms and related terms when searching a
field connected to a thesaurus. [6096]
-
E-mail reports in HTML. Send Report as Mail now
supports HTML format in the e-mail body. [5036]
-
E-mail reports grouped by recipient. E-mail reports sent to
recipients identified in textbase records can now have all messages to a given
recipient grouped into one e-mail message. The option to send them individually
is still supported. [3441]
-
See full path of textbases on the recent file list. Moving
the cursor over a textbase on the File menu causes the full path of that
textbase to appear in the status bar. [6371]
-
The same online help
is now used with both SQL and non-SQL versions of DB/TextWorks, and contains
topics appropriate for both products.
-
Backup/Restore Textbase improvements in the Admin Tool.
The controls showing the selected textbases are now taller, making it easier to
see if there are multiple textbases selected. [6761]
-
Import matching multiple records. Import now supports the
option of updating multiple matching records. [2849]
-
Synonym searching. For fields having an associated
thesaurus, related or preferred terms can be added to to the query. See the
web-based help for the syntax to use.
-
Stop words ignored in Alternate Search Syntax. WebPublisher
PRO
now ignores stop words when processing a query that uses Alternate Search
Syntax ("Google-like" searching).
-
Improved Support for Internet Explorer 7.0. Internal
changes have been made to better support IE 7 and Cascading Style Sheets.
-
Compatibility with additional Microsoft operating systems. The
following operating systems are supported:
-
Windows Server 2008 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit)
-
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
-
Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later (32-bit)
-
Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit)
Note that Windows 2003 may not be supported in future releases.
The following issues are addressed by this version. The Inmagic Software Problem Report (SPR) number follows each item listed.
-
HTML Preview in the form designer now deletes the temporary file that was
created in the process. [6189]
-
HTML Preview in the form designer now shows the Inmagic logo and Help image if
they have been copied to the DB/TextWorks installation folder. [6214]
-
Service pack information now appears in the title bar even if the "start in"
folder doesn't match the EXE folder. [6221]
-
The default XSL transform that can be saved when XML files are imported now
reports the correct encoding. [6202]
-
0 and 1 are no longer treated as equivalent on Vista if accents are
ignored when searching. [6737]
-
Query boxes with a maximum height of 0 lines in the query screen designer which
were exported in an XHTML document could shrink upon receiving focus. This has
been fixed. [6657]
-
Query logging has been fixed to accommodate complex or lengthy
queries. [6596]
-
Defense has been tightened against XSS threats. [6668]
-
An issue related to accent-insensitive filing on Windows Server 2008 has been
fixed. [6737]
-
An extra close-form tag (</form>) has been removed in a WebPublisher PRO
report. [6718]
The ability to browse for SQL instances is not working with SQL Server 2008.
